Kuntschik Benefit at Mullins Prairie

A benefit for the family of Verlene Kuntschik was held Sunday at Mullins Prairie Store. Shown above is the Shiner Hobo Band, which performed at the benefit. There was a fundraising meal, silent auction and raffle as part of the day’s event. Kuntschik died as a result of injuries she sustained in the explosion at the Hostyn church on June 9.

Second Chance Donates to Citizens on Patrol

Second Chance Emporium recently donated $1,000 to the La Grange Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (LGCPAAA). Monies donated will be used to purchase uniforms for the new recruits. The LGCPAAA provides services for the public to support the City of La Grange Police Department. Wich Celebrates 100th Birthday with Family

Phyneze Wich celebrated her 100th birthday at Columbus Oaks home on July 2. She was accompanied by her son Chris Wich of Winchester, daughter in law Alicia Wich, niece Cindy Nolan and her husband Perry from Houston. Included, are her grandchildren and spouses, and great grandchildren. Also participating were Chris’ in-laws from La Grange and Houston.

St. Rose Priest Removed; Bishop Explains

The Diocese of Victoria has removed Fr. Scott Hill as pastor at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg and its mission churches. Bishop Brendan Cahill delivered the news to parishioners at Mass on Sunday morning, July 17.

Theater Group Takes Center Stage for Weekly Library Event

Wednesday, July 20, the Fayette County Community Theatre performed a few scenes from their upcoming production “Peter Pan and Wendy” at the Randolph Rec Center for children participating in the library’s summer reading program. During this performance, they invited kids from the crowd to participate and read lines from the play alongside the actors. The final event for the summer reading program will be held at the Historic Casino Hall on Wednesday, July 27. The Community Theatre will perform “Peter Pan and Wendy” at the La Grange ISD PAC August 5 through 7. Photos by MaKenzie Givan

Fayette County Major Show Tags

Major Show Heifer Tags Any 4-H or FFA member in Fayette County who plans on showing heifers at the 2023 Spring major shows and have not validated them, change of ownership or change of breed, must place an order for the number of heifers they wish to validate. The costs of the validation materials is $17 and must be ordered through the Fayette County Extension office no later than Sept.

Moulton Jamboree Kicks-Off Annual Celebration July 27

As a kickoff to the annual community festival of the Moulton Jamboree, Zion Lutheran Church in Moulton will be hosting the 11th annual community jamboree celebration on Wednesday, July 27 beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a music concert in Zion’s sanctuary by Ronnie Bruns and his band the Blended Blessings. Zion is located at 307 North Hackberry.
