Old Bealls Still Awaiting its Transition to Training Center
Back in March, Region 13 Education Service Center announced they had purchased the old Bealls building in La Grange at 215 Ellinger Rd.
Initially, they hoped to begin educator training services in the building as early as this year.
That hasn’t happened. But Region 13 Executive Director Rich Elsasser said he hopes to begin demolition work “ASAP” with a late spring/early summer 2023 opening targeted. Region 13 is a liaison between the Texas Education Agency and 57 local school districts. Here’s more from Elsasser:
“We quickly found out what the rest of Central Texas has been dealing with in construction… supply lines are horribly slow and contractors would much rather work on new builds than renovations. One of the items that we have to have in the buildings are moveable walls, they allow us to create small meeting rooms from large meeting rooms. Two months ago, they were on an 18 month delivery window which put us in a bind. Things have just recently started moving better and we should be starting some demolition work ASAP. We have plans for the building that will create five large classrooms that will transition into two larger meeting rooms as well as some conference room spaces that can accommodate 10-12 people each. We have roughly 8,000 feet that we will not renovate at this time but as we grow and see what the demand is in the area, we will be able to utilize at a later time. We are currently looking at the possibility of a late spring, early summer opening.”
