4-H Week Proclaimed

Fayette County Commissioners signed a proclamation last Wednesday, Sept. 28, designating the week of Oct. 2-8 as National 4-H Week in Texas. Representatives from each 4-H club in the County (pictured above) appeared at the meeting. Leaders of those clubs gave the court an update on their activities throughout the year. See pages B2-B3 for more.

The Central Texas Food truck has changed their delivery date for Fayetteville. The next delivery will be Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 10-11 a.m. This will replace the 1st Thursday date from previous distribution. Inform your friends of the change.

Animal Shelter Update

As of Sept. 23, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 1,078: 467 dogs and 611 cats in need. As of Sept. 23, the shelter has 164 animals in care: 68 dogs/96 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner. Spay and neuter is the only way to manage the unwanted dog and cat population in Fayette County. The shelter offers a discount voucher program for spay/neuter for citizens of Fayette County. Fayette County Narcotics Seize Cocaine During Traffic Stop

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Saturday, Sept. 24, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, Jeremy Ellison, stopped a black Nissan 350 Z eastbound on Interstate 10 at mile marker 673 at approximately 10:40 a.m. for a traffic violation. After speaking to the driver and passenger many criminal indicators were observed and consent to search the vehicle was granted.
