Breakfast with Santa
The City of La Grange Recreation Department will host Breakfast with Santa at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl St. West Gym, on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. Participants can bring their wish list to Santa, take photos, enjoy breakfast, be creative with crafts, play games, and win prizes. This event is free for all ages and is sure to be a fun-filled morning of fun.
BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $5 and a sausage link is $7. This event is drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
Waldeck Food Truck
Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) has decided to discontinue serving food as a drive-thru format. Starting on Saturday, Dec. 17, the Waldeck Food Truck will have food distribution as a walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it. The Waldeck Food Truck is on third Saturday of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. Year 2023 dates are: Jan. 21, Feb. 18, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, and Dec. 16. Parkinson’s Support Group
For anyone struggling with the Parkinson’s disease movement disorder, the group has reactivated in La Grange the third Thursday of every month for patients and caregivers. The meetings begin at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl Street. For more information, call (832) 561-1447.
A Czech Christmas Open House
Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, located at 250 West Fairground Rd. in La Grange, will have an open house on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Shop in the Kopecky Gift Shop, then visit friends in the Hanslik Hall and enjoy pastries and cookies. Take time to stroll and see the seasonal touches in the Czech Village homes.
Bingo for Seniors
The Ledbetter Community Center will have bingo for 60 and older plus guests on Sunday, Dec. 11 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. and $5 card covers 10 plus games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a free will donation. The money collected is used for purchase of prizes and other expenses. Any questions, call (979) 249-2175.
FWSC Board Meeting
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
American Legion, Auxiliary Party
The American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will host their annual Christmas Party on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fairgrounds in La Grange. The social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with a catered meal served at 6 p.m. The Post and Unit members and spouse/guest are invited to attend the festive event honoring and thanking Veterans for their service to our country.
High School Softball Umpires Meeting The Tri-County High School Softball Umpires are having their first meeting for the upcoming 2023 Softball Season in the Hallettsville ISD Boardroom on Wednesday, Dec.14 at 6:30 p.m. The group is always looking for new umpires. Food Truck Change
The Central Texas Food Truck will be in Fayetteville on Wednesday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. There is a change, no drivethru will be held. It will be park and walk up. Please bring bags and a cart or wagon to get the distribution.
Schulenburg Band Winter Concert The Schulenburg Band will have a winter concert on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. in the Schulenburg Cafetorium featuring beginner, JV band, Varsity Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band. The band boosters will be having a silent auction.
Evening of Christmas Caroling
Join the Shelby Area Historical Society for a wonderful evening of singing and fellowship with neighbors, family and friends. Refreshments served afterwards. Bring a favorite dish to share if you like on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 5:30 p.m. in the old church building located on Skull Creek Road in Shelby. Please bring a flashlight and the church is not heated, so you are welcome to bring blankets to sit on.
Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Dinner The Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Christmas dinner and quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at the Cistern Saints Cyril & Methodius Parish Hall. Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and turkey and dressing dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. A short business meeting will follow the meal.
AMEN Holiday Schedule
The last day to serve food to AMEN Food Pantry clients in 2022 will be Monday, Dec. 19. The pantry will be closed Christmas week, Dec. 25 through Jan. 2. On Tuesday, Jan. 3, the pantry will be open to provide food distribution from 9 a.m. until noon.
Widowed Spouses Support Group

Loss of a Child Support Group
