Harris Chosen Lone Finalist for LG City Manager
The La Grange City Council selected David J. Harris as the sole finalist for the vacant city manager position at a special meeting Monday night, Dec. 5.
The Council directed interim city manager Frank Menefee and staff to negotiate a contract with Harris. The Council offered Harris a starting salary of $130,000. Harris had not yet accepted the offer as of Wednesday, Dec. 7. Menefee said he may have an update on the negotiations next week. Harris has served as city administrator of Balcones Heights (population 3,700) since 2014, where he oversaw a $10 million annual budget and 62 employees. According to his resume, he created an economic development corporation for the city and negotiated a 46 percent ownership stake in Balcones Heights’ biggest development, Wonderland of the Americas shopping mall. Prior to that, he served as the assistant city manager of Schertz (population 34,000) from 20062014. He was the city administrator of Hill Country Village (population 1,100) from 20002006. Harris holds a bachelor degree in American Studies from Whitworth University and a masters in Urban Administration from Trinity University.
