Elon’s Wastewater Could Be Coming Through Fayette County

According to a story, in the Austin-American Statesman last week: “The Boring Company, Elon Musk’s Central Texas-based tunneling and infrastructure operation, is seeking a permit that would allow it to dump up to 142,500 gallons of treated wastewater a day into the Colorado River from its property in Bastrop County.

St. Rose of Lima Ag Day Contest Winners

On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the 4th Grade class of St. Rose of Lima Catholic School participated in the 2022 Fayette County Farm Bureau Ag Day held in La Grange at the county fairgrounds. St. Rose of Lima Catholic School students entered the poster and diorama contest and came away with several winners.

Holiday Hold Em-Multi County Online Wellness Program Begins in November

Would you like to maintain or even lose weight this holiday season? A multi-county community wellness program, Holiday Hold’em will begin soon, states Sally Garrett, County Extension Agent - Family & Community Health. This free online challenge is designed to encourage participants to gain no more than 2 pounds during the holiday season. Austin, Colorado, Fayette and Washington Counties will be offering this program starting on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, and will continue through Jan. 2, 2023. On average individuals gain between 8 and 10 pounds during the holiday season. Holiday Hold’em is a six-week challenge to gain no more than two pounds during the holiday season. Starting on November 21 you will weigh in weekly at home, your fitness center, or your preferred site. Taking part in this program for a healthier you will take less than 5 minutes each week. Make it a holiday challenge and get your office, friends and/or family involved. You will receive a Challenge Log to keep track of your progress and each week a health newsletter will be provided to inspire you over the holidays. Anyone who is interested in participating in this on-line challenge can register at https:// fayette.agrilife.org/https-fchtamu- edu. Be sure to register by November 16 so that you are ready for the November 21 kickoff. You’ll be enrolled and begin receiving e-communications starting the week of November 21. If you don’t have an email account, you can still enroll by calling the Fayette County office at (979) 968-5831 to sign up to have the information mailed to you. All participant information is kept confidential.

Climate Control Innovation Could Save School Money

Highlights from Monday’s monthly meeting of the La Grange School Board: Ideal Impact Services The school board voted to approve an agreement to work with Ideal Impact Services and they also approved a payment plan for those services. Ideal Impact will be making improvements to the HVAC units as well as other improvements to accomplish this task of reducing the amount of energy used.
