Animal Shelter Update

As of Feb. 17, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 181: 119 dogs and 62 cats in need. As of Feb. 17, the shelter has 56 animals in care: 45 dogs/11 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Teens Ticketed for Sign Damage

The Fayette County Sheriff ’s Office ticketed three young men for pushing over road signs with a pickup truck in the Freyburg area. It didn’t take deputies long to find the vehicle.

Praise for Black History Event

Organizers of the Black History Month Celebration in Schulenburg last weekend wished to thank everyone who attended despite the cold weather. “Last year we only had about 20 people, and this year there were probably about 150 who came out,” said Robert Moore, one of the main event organizers.

LGISD Staffer Placed on Leave

A current staff member at La Grange ISD is being sued by a former student as part of a federal suit filed Friday. As soon as LGISD learned of the lawsuit the LGISD superintendent Andy McHazlett said the staff member was placed on leave until further notice.

25th Annual Quilt Show Opens

The KC Hall in La Grange was a flurry of activity Wednesday afternoon as volunteers with the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild were setting up for the 25th annual Best Little Quilt Show in Texas (as shown in the photos above and below).
