La Grange Police are looking for a suspect who broke into the Angel Tobacco World store in La Grange last Wednesday, June 21, and made away with hundreds of dollars in merchandise. According to La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, a City worker called police just before 8 a.m.

Fayette County Commissioners voted last Thursday to absorb the cost of health insurance increases for County employees. Commissioners learned two weeks ago that health insurance premiums for employees would rise by 8.7 percent next year.

The June meeting of the Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America was held at the Brenham Presbyterian Church. Linda Rowlett, a member of the Unit, presented a program titled “Emily Dickinson: The Poet as Gardener and Cook.” The Unit members enjoyed gingerbread, black cake, and chocolate caramels made from Emily Dickinson’s recipes.

As of June 23, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 820: 405 dogs and 415 cats in need. As of June 23, the shelter has 108 animals in care: 65 dogs/43 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Fayette County Sheriff T.J. “Jim” Flournoy was not a fan of the flamboyant newsman.
