LG Police Looking for Suspect In Tobacco World Break-In

La Grange Police are looking for a suspect who broke into the Angel Tobacco World store in La Grange last Wednesday, June 21, and made away with hundreds of dollars in merchandise.

According to La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, a City worker called police just before 8 a.m. to report a broken window at Angel World Tobacco, located at 811 E. Travis St. Officer Jeff Archerd responded and found the front door glass window broken. Archerd entered the store and found a hammer laying on a table. Archerd also discovered that the door to a display case was open with some boxes for disposable vape devices scattered on the ground.

Archerd contacted the owner of the business and notified him that the store had been burglarized. The owner arrived and determined that several items of merchandise were missing, including a glass pipe valued at $189, another glass pipe valued at $59.99, 10 vape devices valued at $35.99 each and 12 Swisher Sweet cigarillos valued at $0.99 each.

The owner produced surveillance video which showed the break-in occurring at 12:35 a.m. that morning. The video showed a subject wearing a black hoodie, black pants, black shoes, white gloves and black framed glasses. The suspect pulled out a hammer and struck the front door three times, breaking out the glass. Video from inside the store showed the suspect taking the merchandise. The suspect exited the store heading north around 12:37 a.m.
