Community Theatre Tackles 23rd Full-Length Play: “Harvey”
Since 2016, Fayette County Community Theatre has been providing both a creative outlet and a source of entertainment for the public. Past performances like “A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Back to the 80’s, Drinking Habits, Peter Pan and Wendy, and The Great Gatsby” have established the nonprofit organization as an essential fixture in the community. This year, they are preparing to perform yet another entertaining production, their 23rd full-length play, “Harvey” by Mary Chase.

The monthly meeting of the Parkinson’s Support Group will be held on the third Thursday of the month, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located on Pearl Street in La Grange. Anyone who is interested in finding out or sharing information which has touched each of those attending is welcome. One of the strong points about this group seems to be the openness to sharing and discussing individual problems encountered. 1973: Wild Storm Strikes Farms West of Plum
Atornadic windstorm roared through a rural area just west of Plum on Thursday morning, ripping roofs off homes and outbuildings and tearing large oak trees out by their roots. Fortunately, no one was injured. The storm struck first at the Arnold Korenek home and dairy, where it ripped off part of the house and barn roofs and damaged other outbuildings. One corner of the house was moved several inches, but remained on its pillared foundation. The most damage was done at the Henry Harbers place where a large section of the house roof was torn off and scattered over adjacent fields and pastures for several hundred yards. The dairy barn’s roof was completely torn off, but the rafters were left intact. Almost all of the outbuildings suffered damage; an 8x10-foot metal pump house that was bolted down on a concrete foundation was torn up and its pieces scattered.
