Parkinson’s Support Group
The monthly meeting of the Parkinson’s Support Group will be held on the third Thursday of the month, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center located on Pearl Street in La Grange. Anyone who is interested in finding out or sharing information which has touched each of those attending is welcome. One of the strong points about this group seems to be the openness to sharing and discussing individual problems encountered. Republican Women Meeting
The Fayette County RepublicanWomen will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Oct. 19 at Sealand Seafood & Steaks Restaurant, 2359 W. State Hwy. (Business) 71, in La Grange. Speaker will be Dr. Ron Seivert with the Texas A&M University School of Government. Dr. Seivert will discuss what Republicans need to do to ensure our candidates win in 2024. Genealogy Workshop at FHMA
The Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives is offering a free workshop that includes eight streamed genealogy programs on Friday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. You may attend one or all of the sessions which will take place in the Archives above the Fayette Public Library at 855 S. Adult Book Club at Library
The Fayette Public Library has an adult book club. Coffee and Conversations is an adult book club that meets every third Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and discuss the latest books or your favorite books. Republican Party Fourth Quarter Meeting
Fayette County Republican Party will host their fourth quarter meeting on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange, from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The group will focus on an open discussion of the 14 proposed constitutional amendments which will appear on the Nov. 7 ballot to identify the pros and cons of each. The goal is to allow attendees to ask questions and voice their concerns or opinions. The discussion will be moderated by David Stall. Additionally, Andrew McVeigh, Executive Director of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility will attend as a subject matter expert. Guests are welcome. Free refreshments will be provided. Nassau Cemetery Assoc. Meeting
Nassau CemeteryAssociation will hold a meeting on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Educational Building in Round Top. Any and all people interested in helping to preserve and maintain the cemetery are encouraged to attend. CDA No. 1962 Meeting
CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, Oct. 23 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Admiral J. Weldon Koenig who will talk about the balance of world powers as we discern the political implications that may affect the balance. Donations for the “Pack-A-Purse Collection” for the Bastrop Family Crisis Center will be accepted. Members are invited to attend. New members are always welcome.
LG Band Booster Club Fall Meal
The La Grange Band Booster Club will have a fried chicken, twice baked potato casserole, corn, green beans, roll and cherry cobbler meal prepared by Koopmann Catering on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the La Grange High School Cafeteria. Plates are $12, drive-thru only.
Harvest Carnival in Fayetteville
The Fayetteville PTC will be holding their Harvest Carnival on Friday, Oct. 27 from 4:30-8 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church Hall/Pavilion located at 205 Bell Street in Fayetteville. There will be games, a cake walk, Senior Class Haunted House and raffle. Raffle tickets are being sold by FISD students. They are $10 for one ticket. Beef stew, chili, hotdogs, nachos, Frito pie and drinks will be available. You will be able to dine in the hall, under the pavilion or take food to go. Come dressed in your costume for a festive time. The Harvest Carnival is the largest fundraiser for the PTC. It’s a fun night for FISD and the community.
