St. Mark’s Medical Center may be closed, but that doesn’t necessarily mean La Grange’s hospital is going to stay that way.

Library books were on the agenda for the La Grange ISD school board’s October meeting Monday. The board, after lengthy discussion, approved their plan for how controversial library books could be screened and removed from school shelves.

A fire Wednesday night resulted in a mobile home fire at 5526 Wied Road, which will likely leave the structure as a total loss. La Grange Fire Chief Frank Menefee said the fire started on the porch of the home, possibly sparked by an outside candle, but they are still investigating. Authorities were contacted at 6:16 p.m. Wednesday and the La Grange fire department arrived with 11 fire fighters and the Fayetteville Fire Department also responded. There we no injuries and firefighters left the scene at 9:06 p.m.

Blue Hills at Round Top is buzzing. The venue, which features 100,000 square feet of shopping and 60 curated vendors, is popular with serious shoppers and interior designers from across the country. Heading into the last week of the fall antique show, vendors are already reporting outstanding sales. Some go so far as to describe this as their most lucrative ever. Let’s check it out.
