Electrical Issue Believed To Be Cause of House Fire

Thursday morning around 3:33 am the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a structure fire on Meiners Rd. near Schuster Rd. The Round Top – Warrenton Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene. Mutual Aid was requested from the La Grange Fire Department who also responded to the scene. Fayette County Deputy Josh Jones, Fayette County EMS Medic Unit 2, and EMS 3 Supervisor also responded to the scene. Upon arrival it was reported a trailer house was fully engulfed and occupants were out of the structure. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished.

Court Talks America 250 Plans, New Subdivision

The Fayette County Commissioners Court handled a wide range of business at their meeting last Thursday, May 14. The Court approved a request from the Fayette County Semiquincentennial Commission to use the Courthouse grounds on June 14 for a Flag Day celebration and on July 4 for the July 4 Celebration.

Carmine Lions Club Awards $2,000 in Scholarships

The Carmine Lions Club gave three scholarships at the recent Round Top-Carmine Academic Banquet to high school seniors. Marlene Waak and Lisa Mayer presented the scholarships to Gretchen Sacks for $500; Alin Soto for $500; and Avery Nelius for $1,000. The Carmine Lions Club wishes the very best to these scholarship recipients in their future educational pursuits.

As of May 8, the total 2026 intake is 470: 221 dogs and 249 cats in need. There are 118 animals in care: 51 dogs and 67 cats.
