Carmine Lions Club Awards $2,000 in Scholarships
The Carmine Lions Club gave three scholarships at the recent Round Top-Carmine Academic Banquet to high school seniors. Marlene Waak and Lisa Mayer presented the scholarships to Gretchen Sacks for $500; Alin Soto for $500; and Avery Nelius for $1,000. The Carmine Lions Club wishes the very best to these scholarship recipients in their future educational pursuits.
Service of Remembrance A Service of Remembrance will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary of Martin Luther Lutheran Church. It is sponsored by the Carmine EDC and the Quade-Werchan Post 338 American Legion. Everyone is invited to experience this moving service.
RT-C School News
The Round Top-Carmine baseball team defeated Menard in Copperas Cove on May 8 by a score of 5-0 to win the area round of the playoffs. The Cubs advanced to the Regional Semi-finals against Medina, with the first game on May 14 at Bryan Wyatt Field in Blanco. The second game was to have been played on May 16 at Vendegrift High School in Austin.
The Cubette golf team placed fifth at the state tournament. The girls made school history by placing at this level in golf.
The FFA Banquet is on May 19 at 6 p.m.
High School graduation and eighth grade promotion ceremony is on May 22 at Festival Hill in Round Top at 6 p.m.
RT-C will host a variety of sports camps throughout the summer. Included are strength and conditioning; summer skill work; basketball camp; volleyball camp; and baseball camp. Go to the rtcisd.com website for dates and registration information.
Teacher appreciation week was recently observed by the generous support and kindness from students, families, and the community.
The RT-C Education Foundation and Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein (Carmine Hall) provided fruit and meat trays. Stephanie Schmidt with Woodmen Life brought lunch and new flags. Lunch was provided by Lisa Mayer with Round Top Real Estate. Kayla Chapman with The Soda Social brought Dirty Soda Kits. The Nelius Family brought lunch and the Albrecht Family provided treats.
During the month of April, different groups were recognized. They included Administrative Assistants-Tania Hardaway, Bayley Gold, Ashley Jasek, Audrey Sternadel, and Gwen Stork; Paraprofessionals- Devin Bellue, Ashlee Lyons, Christa Denham, Graciela Blazek, Erin Willard, Michelle Osgood, Nicole Bage, and Sidnie Byrket; and School Bus Drivers-Blake Goehring, Harvey Albers, Randy Beck, and Tiffani Broooks. The school is very appreciative of their hard work and dedication to their jobs and students.

Carmine 42 Domino Club
The Carmine 42 Domino Club met on Wednesday, May 6 at JW’s Steakhouse in Carmine for their monthly match.
After eating a delicious lunch, eight intriguing games of 42 were played. Partners were determined by drawing for positions at the tables.
The high scoring partners were LaVerne Albers and Marlene Waak with a score of 2043 and they played one hand of 84. Myrt Meinkowsky and Carol Naegeli came in second with a score of 1762, and played two hands of 84. Betty Porter and Avalda Pohl played as partners, as did Jeanette Schoenst and Edith Flinn.
Everyone enjoyed the challenging domino games and fellowship. This group will meet again on June 3.

Senior Citizens meet on Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Mission & Ministry Building.
AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.
Worship with Holy Communion, observing the Day of Pentecost is Sunday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Bonnie Parker will serve as the guest pastor.
Confirmation will be held on May 31 with the Rev. John David Nedbalek conducting the service.
The Women of the ELCA Salad Supper will be held on June 3 at 6 p.m. with the meal served at 6:30. The theme is “Feeding the Multitude.” Susan Schultz from the AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange will serve as the guest speaker. All are welcome.
Vacation Bible School is scheduled for June 14-18 with the closing on June 21.
Senior Meals on Wheels Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action is on Wednesdays at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the comaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.
Five meals come in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread for a donation of $10 which comes to $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up. Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. To sign up, come by on any Wednesday morning to fill out the paperwork.
