Student Writes Play Being Performed This Week

Jackson Elliott, a sophomore at La Grange High School, recently wrote a play for the Fayette County Community Theatre which will be performed this weekend. Elliott’s play “Narnia Storbook” will introduce the audience to the magical world of Narnia and serve as a prequel to the second feature, “The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe” dramatized by Joseph Robinette based on the book by C.S.

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, July 25 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Animal Shelter Update

As of July 12, the total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 900: 381 dogs and 519 cats in need. As of July 12, the shelter has 142 animals in care: 64 dogs/78 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Non-Profits Make Requests for County Assistance

Fayette County Commissioners Court met last Thursday, July 11, to start crunching the number for next year’s budget. Last Thursday they met with representatives from 10 non-profit agencies that receive funding from the County.

Dress Code and Bus Changes at LGISD

Changes enacted at Monday’s meeting for the upcoming school year at LGISD include: Dress Code Update Changes to the dress code for the 2024-25 school year include: • Clothing /Hairstyle/Eyebrow styles that denote gang membership, tobacco, alcohol, and/or drug use, vulgar or obscene words or images, violence, weapons, derogatory language, or any illegal activities, whether expressed or implied, is not allowed. Hairstyle and eyebrow style was added.

Fayette Water Supply Notice of Lead Service Line Inventory

Fayette Water Supply Corporation (FWSC) has contracted Core & Main to perform the Lead Service Line Inventory as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The Lead Service Line Inventory is an inventory of every service line in FWSC’s distribution system, including both the utility owned and customer owned service lines and active and inactive meter taps. Each must be categorized as either lead, non-lead, galvanized requiring replacement, or lead status unknown. The inventory is expected to start on Monday, July 29, 2024 and may take a couple months to complete, depending on the weather. Core & Main can be identified by their work trucks that state they are a contractor for Fayette Water Supply and their company Core & Main uniforms.
