Council Clears Hurdle for Downtown Gin Distillery

The La Grange City Council took a first step towards allowing a gin distillery to move into the downtown historic district. Entrepreneurs David and Vicky McGrath, who are trying to start a business called La Grange Distilling Co., first brought their plans to the City Council last August.

Wrecks Clog Already Busy Roadways

A pair of wrecks on US 77 slowed traffic through Fayette County on a busy Monday as lots of folks were traveling to see the eclipse. The wreck happened shortly before 11 a.m.

Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum to Hold 25th Anniversary Celebration

The Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum, located in Schulenburg, is thrilled to mark its 25th anniversary with a special celebration on April 20. This milestone marks a quarter of a century of preserving the rich history of model aircraft and honoring the legacy of the Stanzel family’s contributions to aviation and model aircraft engineering.

Play Ball!

La Grange Little League held their opening ceremonies Saturday at the fairgrounds. Above, La Grange little league coach Kenn Kasparek (who led Weimar to two state titles, helped the University of Texas win the 2005 national baseball title and later went on to play eight seasons of minor league ball) threw out one of the ceremonial first pitches. Right: Cami Dixon of Woodmen Life gets some help from little leaguers to unfurl a huge flag for the National Anthem. She donated new, smaller flags for all the fields, and Woodmen Chapter 302 donated a new flag pole at the fairgrounds.
