Dress Code and Bus Changes at LGISD

Changes enacted at Monday’s meeting for the upcoming school year at LGISD include:

Dress Code Update 

Changes to the dress code for the 2024-25 school year include:

• Clothing /Hairstyle/Eyebrow styles that denote gang membership, tobacco, alcohol, and/or drug use, vulgar or obscene words or images, violence, weapons, derogatory language, or any illegal activities, whether expressed or implied, is not allowed. Hairstyle and eyebrow style was added.

• Facial hair (including but not limited to mustaches, beards, goatees, unusual sideburns, etc.) is not allowed. Facial hair under a mask is not permitted. This was added.

• Holes that show skin above fingertip length are not allowed. (If the holes are lower than the allowable length of short, they are fine.)

• Pants resembling pajamas are not allowed at school. Lounge wear or baggy pants are now allowed.

• Writing across the front or back of the short, skirt, and/ or skort is not allowed.

• Leggings may be worn as long as the leggings are not transparent and the top/shirt/ dress worn on top does not display the midriff when the arms are lifted or left at the sides.

• Bags and backpacks, except for athletic, band, drill team, cheer, and lunchboxes must be clear, transparent, or made of a see through material. Bus Route Revision

• There will be no pick-up or drop-off on Hwy. 71.

• Students in grades 4 and under cannot be dropped off at home alone. If there is no one at home, the student will be transported back to the school for parents to pick up. After three (3) occurrences, the student will no longer be eligible for bus transportation.
