Subdivision Regulations Tightened

The Fayette County Commissioners Court amended the County’s subdivision ordinance to limit the way developers can divide tracts of land in Fayette County. The new rules come in response to a recent subdivision request in the High Hill area opposed by some residents.

Thousands of MS 150 Cyclists Roll Through La Grange for the 40th Annual Fundraiser

Nearly 5,500 cyclists pedaled into La Grange Saturday for the 40th annual Texas MS 150. As of Sunday, April 28, The ride raised more than $7.5 million for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Riders departed from various locations in Houston and Austin early Saturday morning. The first large groups began arriving at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange around noon, where they were greeted by well-wishers. Riders and volunteers spent Saturday night at the Fairgrounds and began departing La Grange at 6:45 a.m. on their way to the finish line at Kyle Field in College Station. The event concluded Sunday afternoon with a big meet-up on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station. Three Arrested for Ledbetter Murder

Lee County Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger reports that three suspects have been arrested for the March 5 murder of Carlos Ramone Green near Ledbetter. Green, 36 of College Station, was found dead from gunshot wounds at property on Lee County Road 123 between Ledbetter and Dime Box.

LCRA Awards $50,000 to Ledbetter VFD for Extrication Tools

A $50,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority will help the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department outfit a recently purchased firetruck with new, more effective rescue tools. The Community Development Partnership Program grant, along with $53,593 in matching funds from the department, will pay for batterypowered extrication tools, including a cutter, spreader and ram that help first responders free people from wrecked vehicles or other places they cannot get out of on their own.

Deputies, Officers Attend Texas CIT Association Conference

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that several deputies and local police department Officers were able to attend the Texas CIT Association conference this past week. The conference focuses on the intersection of mental health and the criminal justice system and brings together Peace Officers and Mental Health Professionals from across the state to network, share knowledge and ideas, and receive advanced training on mental health and crisis intervention.

German-Czech Mart Project Postponed

The Fayette County Fair Association along with the City of La Grange has decided to postpone the construction of the new food court until after the 2024 fair. “We have experienced some unexpected hurdles that delayed the start of the project.
