Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the first week of June 16-22.

Accident

On June 16, Officer M D Krenek met with complainant at the police station regarding his daughter’s pickup being struck while she was at work. Officer followed up with looking at the video footage from the store next door and on the video, it showed a large white boat enter the parking lot and the driver attempted to back up, and it struck the pickup. A heavy-set white male is seen looking at the boat and the vehicle for a while. The male gets back into the unknown vehicle towing the boat and leaves heading north on Hwy. 77.

Animal Complaint

On June 17, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden responded to the 600 block of South Street regarding a husky type dog with no water. Upon arrival office found dog with no water, food, and no shelter from the weather and on a four ft. leash. Officer loaded up the dog and while loading the husky, a brown lab mix dog wondered up as a stray. Officer loaded both dogs up and took to shelter. Officer tried to contact the owners without success and left a voice message. Officer Harden did finally talk to the owners that don’t live at that address and advised the two dogs belonged to his sister.

On June 18, Harden responded to the 500 block of Paulus for a gray/white Pitbull mix lying under the homeowner’s handicap ramp and it could not run away. Officer found approximately 15–20foot of chain and two keyed locks on it. The dog was tangled up around the supports of the ramp and couldn’t move. Officer Harden managed to get the dog untangled and placed into the truck. The non-neutered. male has a large raw area directly in front of his right ear. The collar when removed was tight enough to have hair stuck to it.

Civil Matter

On June 20, Officer Byron Powe was dispatched to the 700 block of Kallus for a civil matter regarding a cellphone.

On June 20, Officer James Whited responded to the 1500 block of Kessler for a verbal disturbance and upon completion of the investigation officer stood by while individual got his belongings.

Disturbance

On June 21, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 1500 block of Kessler regarding a family disturbance.

Disorderly Conduct

On June 20, Whited while at the police station could hear an argument in the street with a male subject cursing loudly. Officer was able to get the disturbance under control and all parties were able to leave with no charges.

Harassment

On June 21, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 700 block of Black St. regarding harassment.

Suspicious Vehicle/Person

On June 19, Whited while patrolling observed a black truck in the back of 40 East Avenue. Officer ran the plate and it belonged to the owner of the clinic.

On June 21, Vincent was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler for panhandlers. Officer made location and the men stated they were traveling to California and needed gas money. Officer gave a $20 gas voucher to Hitching Post.

Traffic Stop

On June 16, Powe stopped a driver in the 700 block of N. Kessler for operating an unregistered motor vehicle (5-- 23) On June 16, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for expired registration (4-24) Driver received a warning for expired registration and wrong license plate.

On June 20, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 90 in a 75. Search was conducted due to open container in plain view. Driver received a warning for expired driver’s license and a citation for speeding.

On June 20, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for expired registration (5-24) Driver received a warning for expired registration and a citation for no driver’s license.

On June 20, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 91 in a 75. Driver received a citation.

On June 22, Vincent stopped a driver in the 500 block of Kessler for running a red light at Hwy. 77 and 90. Citation was issued.

Welfare Check

On June 17, Vincent responded to the 600 block of Lyons for a welfare check. All was good.

On June 22, Vincent observed a male walking out of liquor store in the 300 block of Summit and appeared to be intoxicated and was having to lean on the wall to hold himself up. Officer checked on the individual who was riding a bike and a friend showed up and would take the man home. The bicycle was secured in the liquor store so it would not get stolen. Officer informed the liquor store worker that he should pay more attention to the individual he is selling to.

On June 22, Vincent was dispatched to the 80 block of Kessler to check on a female sitting by the Regency Home Health building. Subject advised she just got off work from Garden Company and was waiting on her ride.
