As of June 21, the total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 794: 328 dogs and 466 cats in need. As of June 21, the shelter has 144 animals in our care: 61 dogs/83 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office released the investigation report into the 2022 Hostyn Church explosion. The Record obtained the report through an open records request filed earlier this month.

The La Grange City Council approved a request from the Police Department to replace yield signs at several intersections in town with stop signs. Police Chief David Gilbreath made the request at the City Council meeting on Monday, June 24.

The City of La Grange, La Grange Police Department and Fayette County EMS presented life saving awards to the two men who saved the life of La Grange Police Officer Kevin Currington last month. Currington nearly died from blood loss after his service pistol unintentionally discharged inside of his holster.
