A Closer Look at RT-C ISD Tax Rate Ballot Proposition

  • A Closer Look at RT-C ISD Tax Rate Ballot Proposition
A Closer Look at RT-C ISD Tax Rate Ballot Proposition

In the upcoming election, Proposition A is in favor of “ratifying the ad valorem tax rate for maintenance and operations of $0.6969 per $100 tax assessed valuation in Round Top-Carmine Independent School District for the current year, a rate that will result in an increase of 2.8 percent in maintenance and operations tax revenue for the district for the current year as compared to the preceding year, which is an additional $178,366.”

If the vote passes, it will allow RTC to keep all funds raised in the school district. Last year, as part of the state’s recapture program, the district had to send nearly $2.5 million back to the state.

Immediate needs of the district include new air conditioning units at both the Elementary and High School campuses. The Elementary school campus’ septic system is also in need of attention. Additionally, funds could also be used for facility maintenance and teacher/staff compensation.
