Arts for Rural Texas believes that every child should have access to fine art experiences. Recognizing the challenges rural schools face in transporting students to metropolitan areas, ARTS brings performing artists directly to the schools through its Fine Art Assemblies program. With the support of Texas Commission on the Arts, these free performances give children a front-row seat and a backstage pass to world-class fine art experiences.

Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites will host a grand opening ceremony for its new educational playground on Thursday, November 7 at 5 p.m. This playscape shares the stories of the area’s natural heritage, Monument Hill, the Kreische Family, and the Bluff community through a variety of interactive elements that facilitate play, physical coordination, flexibility, and socialization. The ceremony will feature brief remarks, light refreshments, and opportunities to meet the team behind the playground’s design. Admission fees will be waived for the opening ceremony. K reische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites, in collaboration with Fayette County Community Theatre, held their inaugural performance, “Memories of Monument Hill: A Lantern-Led Theatrical Experience,” on Saturday, Oct. 26. The play shared stories from the Dawson and Mier Expeditions, the events’influence on the people of Fayette County, and the legacy they continue to hold at Monument Hill. Shared through five theatrical scenes, the play provided a unique medium for experiencing the history of this Texas tale. The content was written by Jason Rainey and directed by Melanie Lira.
