ARTS Brings World-Class Performances to Rural Schools

Arts for Rural Texas believes that every child should have access to fine art experiences. Recognizing the challenges rural schools face in transporting students to metropolitan areas, ARTS brings performing artists directly to the schools through its Fine Art Assemblies program. With the support of Texas Commission on the Arts, these free performances give children a front-row seat and a backstage pass to world-class fine art experiences.

This October, the Fine Art Assemblies program reached over 1,900 students across three counties, serving students from Fayetteville ISD, Flatonia ISD, La Grange ISD, Round Top-Carmine ISD, Sacred Heart Catholic School, Schulenburg ISD, St. Michael Catholic School, St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, Waelder ISD, Weimar ISD, and the homeschooling community.

These rural communities were visited by talented performance groups and solo artists, such as Ballet Frontier of Texas, Brave Little Company, Sue Young, and Honey Goodenough with Good Hearted Entertainment, offering students exposure to ballet, theater, storytelling, music, and puppetry.

Through programs like Fine Art Assemblies, ARTS continues its mission to enrich lives through art and art education, emphasizing opportunities for children living in our rural communities.
