LHS Marching Band Earns First-Ever State Berth

La Grange High School has had some really good bands over the years.

But none was able to do what La Grange’s Mighty Leopard Band did Saturday on Pflugerville.

At the 4A Area D Marching Band Competition, the Leps qualified for state for the first time in school history.

At the prelims Saturday La Grange placed 5th out of 31 bands to advance to that night’s finals that included 12 bands.

Only the top six from the finals earned a spot at state and La Grange was able to grab the 6th place spot and the state berth.

La Grange did it with an extravagant show called “Sonoran Sketches” which features colorful music and imagery of the southwest.

The Leps will now perform Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. at the Alamodome in the state competition.

All LGISD campuses will release early on Nov. 13 at noon to allow students and faculty to travel to watch the band perform at state The band booster club is also trying to raise funds to get charter buses for the band members for their trip to state.
