In 2024 the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter (GJAS) said goodbye to Tom Zapata of Schulenburg as a valued board member and treasurer. Tom made a great contribution to the shelter; his efforts made a significant impact on the lives of countless animals in need in the Fayette County community.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Monday, Jan. 27, Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office received information about a skid steer that had been stolen from a job site in Tomball possibly being in Fayette County in the area of Prairie Valley road.
