Changes Ahead

That Little Voice

Take a look in the rear view mirror, because life will never be the same. What you have known, what you have lived, what you have enjoyed, will only be seen as the past.

All generations have no doubt felt this way, but for those of us born in the after glow of World War II, the changes ahead are much like what our parents and grandparents experienced. A society torn and bitter. Some screaming with joy, some screaming with pain. But both envisioning a new order of life that is altering not only our country but the world.

Which side will win this battle of views and beliefs? Only time will tell, which is frustrating to most of us. We want to know the ending of this story. It is especially nerve racking for me. I’m one who has to read the first 40 pages of a mystery, then skip to the end and read the last 40 pages. Suspense is not comfortable for this kid.

I am not drawn to dictate the outcome, but please don’t surprise me or leave me hanging while the plot plays out. I need to know the outcome, then I can relax and enjoy the trip. Hanging in limbo is unnerving to me, especially if the future may alter my very existence.

And what is ahead for all of us: Major Changes. So, look in the rear view mirror for what life was like a year ago, 10 years ago, 30 years ago, and know you won’t see that life again.

The world, she is ‘a changin’, and know we each are responsible for what that change will look like.
