Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the first week of Dec. 15-21.
Animal Complaint
On Dec.16, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden received a call from a resident needing help trapping some stray cats.
Agency Assist
On Dec. 21, Officer Reyden Svatek helped with a one vehicle accident in the 10 thousand block of US Hwy. 77 with four subjects inside the vehicle. The driver appeared to have had a heart attack and blacked out causing him to run off the road. The vehicle hit a culvert and jumped approximately 120 ft. before hitting the front end and rolling end over end.
Criminal Trespass
On Dec. 20, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 100 block of N. Upton in reference to an individual trespassing. A criminal trespass was issued to the individual and advised it is good for two years.
Disturbance
On Dec. 19, Whited was dispatched to the 1000 block of Summit for a verbal disturbance.
On Dec. 20, Castilleja was dispatched to the 1300 block of Pierce in reference to a disturbance.
Harassment
On Dec. 15, Officer James Whited spoke with complainant on the phone regarding harassment.
Suspicious Vehicle
On Dec. 18, Officer Byron Powe stopped in the 400 block of summit for a vehicle parked behind a closed business.
Theft
On Dec. 19, Powe took a report from the 700 block of N. Kessler where caller advised they had items stolen from his trailer overnight.
Traffic Stop
On Dec. 15, Sgt. Tobey McFadden stopped a driver at College and Wolters for disregarding a stop sign. Warning issued.
On Dec. 16, Officer MD Krenek stopped a driver in the 500 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Citation issued.
On Dec. 16, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 700 block of Kessler for speeding. Citation issued.
On Dec. 17, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 1200 block of Kessler for speeding.
On Dec. 17, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 80 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Citation issued.
On Dec. 17, Svatek stopped a driver in the 900 block of Paulus for an expired registration (6-24) Subject had a warrant out of Lavaca County. Fayette County jail would not accept her, and neither would Lavaca County. She was released with a citation.
On Dec. 18, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 42 in a 25. Driver received a citation for seeding in a school zone and no driver’s license (Mexico ID only) Licensed passenger drove the vehicle away.
On Dec. 18, Powe stopped a driver in the 200 block of Kessler for running a stop sign in a school zone. Driver received a citation. On Dec. 18, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding going 44 in a 35. Driver received a warning for speeding and expire registration (7-24) and failure to signal with turn indictor.
On Dec. 19, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 37 in a 25. Driver received a citation.
On Dec. 19, Krenek stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 400 block of N. Kessler. Citation issued.
On Dec. 19, Powe stopped a vehicle for obscured license plate in the 600 block of E. I-10. Driver received a warning for obscured plate and a citation for no insurance.
On Dec. 21, Svatek stopped a driver in the 900 block of Paulus for expired registration, driver advised he had been cited already and is making payments on his last citation. Driver advised that as soon as that is paid, he will be getting current registration. Verbal warning issued.
