Library Program
Dr. Margo Blevins is bringing her program, “Noch ein bisschen Deutsch: Keeping Texas German Alive,” to the Fayette Public Library’s meeting room on Thursday evening, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Blevins will talk about her work with the Texas German Dialect Project (TGDP), including an ongoing transcribing project with the Fayette Heritage Museum &Archives. She will also preview the TGDP’s Texas German Dictionary, exploring the question: what does Texas German food and drink vocabulary reveal about the culture and history? The library’s address is 855 S. Jefferson, La Grange. Please use the after-hours door to our meeting room at the rear of the building on Franklin Street.

Vacation Bible School Schulenburg
Vacation Bible School (VBS) at First Baptist Church of Schulenburg will be held Monday - Friday, July 6-10, from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Bible stories, music, crafts, recreation, and snacks daily for kids who have finished Kindergarten through 5th grade. American Legion Quade-Werchan No. 338
The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Auxiliary will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237, Round Top beginning at 6:30 p.m. The post will not hold a meeting on July 2 so that members can enjoy the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding and participate in local celebrations being held on July 4. All veterans in the Round Top-Carmine, Winedale, Warrenton, Ledbetter, Waldeck, and Ruttersville area are encouraged to join Post No. 338 and share in fellowship with others who have served our nation.
Flower & Plant Exhibit Returns to Fair The Flower and Plant Exhibit returns to the Fayette County Fair Sept. 3-6 with Ribbons and Garden Prizes for Grand Champion and Reserved Grand Champion. There will be two divisions: Youth (14 years and under) and Adult (15 years +). Judging will be on looks and the container’s presentation in keeping with the 2026 Fair theme of Celebrate America 250. Start grooming those special plants now, so they will be for competition come September. The La Grange Garden Club will be sponsoring the Plant and Flower Show this year.
