April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative and several local organizations have joined the campaign to raise awareness during National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, agencies that serve 14 counties in the Bluebonnet region, the Children’s Advocacy Center that serves Bastrop, Lee and Fayette counties, and the SAFE Alliance that operates in eastern Travis County are among the local organizations that support families affected by abuse and neglect.

Updated Property Tax Information Now Available for Texas Taxpayers

New and updated property tax information has just been compiled by Fayette County Appraisal District and is available now to assist taxpayers. This property tax information is current and covers a wide range of topics, such as taxpayer remedies, exemptions and appraisals and has information for select groups, such as disabled veterans and persons age 65 or older.

ArtWalk Returns to Fayetteville This May

Arts for Rural Texas is gearing up for this year’s Art-Walk, Fayetteville’s annual juried fine art festival. The event, free and open to the public, will take place on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fayetteville’s historic town square.

April is National Poetry Month and The Round Top Family Library has announced the 6th Open Mic Poetry night at the Library for April 24 starting at 7 p.m. Poets of all ages are invited to read one of their poems. Time permitting a reading of a favorite poem will be accepted. The Round Top Family Library bookclub will sponsor a reception afterwards. Senior Connections Ageless Art Show Saturday

The Senior Activity Center, known as Senior Connections, is buzzing with excitement as it gears up for a week filled with engaging activities and a unique event that promises to be a highlight for the community. Located at 1111 Bohlmann Ave., Senior Connections is a vibrant gathering place for active seniors from Schulenburg, Weimar, and Flatonia.
Volunteers Judy Janik, Sharon Rodrigues, and Pam Janda served up a delicious cooked meal to hungry members. Senior Connections are grateful to the hours that they spend serving our members.
