Antiques Destroyed by Fire on Ellinger Rd.

A fire on Ellinger Road just outside La Grange destroyed several sheds and storage buildings filled with antiques on Wednesday, March 15. La Grange Volunteer Fire Department got the call around 4:40 p.m.

Several Injured in Two Wrecks on US 290

Several people suffered injuries and at least one person was flown by helicopter following a pair of wrecks on US 290 Thursday, March 16. Texas Department of Public Safety investigated both crashes, but a report was not available in time for this publication.

Autism Awareness Month Proclaimed

Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation at their meeting on March 9 designating the month of April as Autism Awareness Month in Fayette County. On hand for the signing was Destiny Psencik of the Turtle Wing Foundation, an organization aimed at connecting families who have children with learning challenges with the services and support they need to be successful. La Grange ISD Hosts First-Ever Special Prom

As prom season gets underway in Fayette County, many teenagers are busy renting their tuxes, buying their dresses, and planning after-parties but this year a new and special prom started at La Grange ISD, a Special Education Prom.

From July 15-17, 1868, in the small town of Millican, up to 300 Black Americans were driven away or killed in what some scholars consider the worst incident of racial violence in Texas during Reconstruction. County Could Get Another $4.8 Million in Harvey Grant Funds

Fayette County will receive another round of Hurricane Harvey mitigation grant funding that could total more than $4.8 million. These are federal disaster dollars administered by the Texas General Land Office (GLO).

RT-Carmine Kindergaten, Pre-K Round Up Set April 4

Round Top-Carmine Elementary will have a Kindergarten and Prekindergarten Roundup on April 4, at the elementary school from 5 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Eligible children who plan to attend Kindergarten and/or Prekindergarten at Round Top-Carmine Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year are invited to attend.

Subjects Arrested for Possession of Cocaine

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Wednesday morning around 3:15 a.m. Deputy Austin Moore observed a white 2010 GMC SUV with a flat tire parked in the median area on I-10 at the 669 mile marker on the eastbound side with hazard lights on.
