800 Being Bussed Daily at LGISD

The La Grange School Board held its first monthly meeting Monday since the start of classes.

Here’s some highlights: Superintendent Andy McHazlett told the board that the school year is underway. The current enrollment is at 1,837 students, which is similar to last year. Some interesting points are below:

• Elementary - largest group is 4th grade (150 students); kindergarten is smallest (94).

• Middle school: 150 seventh graders, 149 eighth graders.

• High school: largest group is freshmen (169), biggest class in years.

• District-wide attendance rate is 96.26%, with pre-k having the lowest attendance.

Assistant Superintendent Stacy Eilers reported on the Little Leps after school care program. There are currently 51 students enrolled, with no waiting list.

Director of Operations Sharon Muzny told the board about the numbers of students on the bus routes. Here are some of the highlights:

• Over 1,000 registered bus riders; approximately 800 transported daily.

• 17 bus routes are operating efficiently, with improved drop-off times.
