Summer STEM Series Kicks Off with Science Heroes at Old Stanzel Factory

Laughter, learning, and a whole lot of curiosity filled the Old Stanzel Model Aircraft Factory on Monday morning as children and families gathered for the kickoff of the Dale Kirn Summer STEM Series. The event featured The Adventure of the Missing Color, an exciting live science show by Science Heroes that had kids wide-eyed with wonder and clapping for more.

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be conducting their semiannual blood drive on the Square in Fayetteville on Saturday, July 19 from 8 - 12:30 p.m. You can reserve a time to donate by going to their website, giveblood. org and click on Donate and put the Fayetteville zip code 78940 and select a time for this drive. Drop ins are also welcome. Blood, the Gift of Life is always needed. Each donation helps up to 3 patients. This drive is sponsored by the Fayetteville/Ellinger Knights of Columbus but everyone is welcome.

LG Woman Perishes in Plum Wreck

The woman who died in the crash near Plum on Sunday, June 22, was 78-year-old Mildred Sue Cunningham of La Grange. Trooper Pedro Rodriguez with the Texas Highway Patrol investigated the crash, which happened around 11 a.m.

Fayette County’s Vandever an Operations Chief in Disaster Area Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever, Captain Neil Watkins and EMT Sam Brychta deployed to Kerrville on July 4 to assist in the response to the devastating flood. They’re part of Texas Emergency Medical Task Force 7.

Convoy of LG Heavy Equipment Cleaning Up

A crew from Joe Rogers Dozer Service of La Grange went to the Hill Country last week to help with cleanup and recovery efforts from the July 4 floods. Rogers along with six of his heavy equipment operators arrived at Camp La Junta in Hunt last week with a convoy of dump trucks and 18 wheelers loaded with skid steers and backhoes.

Murder Suspect Arrested Friday Night in Schulenburg

Schulenburg Police and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect wanted for murder out of Pasadena late Friday night, July 11. According to reports from Schulenburg Police and the Sheriff’s Office, the Pasadena Police Department notified dispatchers about a murder suspect traveling on Interstate 10.

Mach Makes Chancellor’s List at Arkansas

The University of Arkansas is recognizing students for making the Spring 2025 Chancellor’s List. Maddi Mach of La Grange joins a prestigious group of students who have attained a 4.0 grade-point average for the semester while completing at least 12 credit hours of coursework.
