Round Top-Shelby Hermann Sons Sponsoring Country Store at Ledbetter VFD Fireman’s Feast
Round Top-Shelby Hermann Sons Life had their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 25 at the American Legion Hall with all officers and committee members present and a great attendance. There will be no meeting in October due to the antique show. November meeting will be on Nov. 20 with election of officers, and the Christmas party will be Sunday, Dec. 14 starting at 11 a.m. with a catered lunch and afternoon of games.
Linda Mattocks called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Linda’s agent report included the 3- and 5-year term annuities. For $100,000, the 3 years the rate is 5.4%.
Melanie Rauch sent cards for birthday, sympathy and thinking of you. Good reports were given about members and friends that were having problems.
Menus for the Christmas dinner were discussed. Linda will report back in November for the selection of the main course.
The county store at Ledbetter Fire Department Feast coming up on Oct. 4 was the main topic of discussion. Setup will begin at 2 p.m. Donations may be brought to Ledbetter or dropped off at Linda’s home in Carmine. Bingo starts at 4 p.m. followed by the fried chicken meal at 5 p.m. and the auction at 6 p.m.
Attendance prizes were won by Leonard Meinkowsky, Lila Garlin, Margie Stardig, Norwood Hackemack and Jo Ann Ullrich. Vegetable door prizes, generously provided by Betty and Bob Porter, were awarded to Linda Mattocks, Myrt Meinkowsky, Pearlie Wagner, Melanie Rauch, and Ray Ullrich.
Everyone enjoyed the fellowship, refreshments and
lunch.

Saturday, Oct. 4 enjoy “Boots, Bubbles, and Bites” at 9 a.m. at Blue Hills, a Peter Dunham book signing at Red Antler, “Daubin” with Double D Ranch” (Bingo) at The Halles, and tons of shopping.
Additional events this coming week include a Laura Goodson Art Show at Henkel Square Market on October 8, and “Shop Swap” with Modern Marla and Laura Goodson, WDA Home Round Top Collection Kick-Off at The Compound, and Dirty Bohemian Vintage Renegades Runway Fashion Show at Festival Hill all on Oct. 9.
Friday, Oct. 10 is the Warrenton Wine Walk, “Boots, Bubbles & Bandanas” at Henkel Square Market, Wild Wild West at Ellis Motel, and Pixie and the Moon Vintage Fashion Show at Cisco Village.

Friday, Oct. 3 at 5:45 p.m. is the official book release for the 20th Anniversary Special Edition of “The Gospel According to Sam: Animal Stories for the Soul.” St. Cecilia’s musicians will be providing thoughtful songs along with jazz pianist from Houston Paul English. Saturday, Oct. 4 at 4:30 p.m. is the annual Animal Blessing with music by Black Cat Choir. All donations will benefit the Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter. Friday, Oct. 19 at 10:30 a.m., enjoy a Tom Petty Tribute Mass. Everyone is invited to all events and services.
