Warda Neighbors Night Out Slated Oct. 19
Neighbors Night Out in Warda will be held Sunday, Oct. 19, starting at 4 p.m. at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds. Everyone in the community is welcome to join in the fun, food, and fellowship.
Speakers include Breck Powers from Bluff Creek Ranch (the first mountain bike ranch in Texas), Harold Atkinson, speaking on oil and gas drilling/development in our area, Faith Lutheran High School will speak on their growth and progress and Frank Dawson will represent the Warda Watch Group.
Pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, and Blue Bell ice cream will be served. RSVP is appreciated by calling (979) 242-3333.
South Lee County VFD South Lee County VFDwill have barbeque chickens available on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Serbin picnic grounds. This will be to-go only and orders can be placed by calling the St. Paul Serbin church office at (979) 366-9650.
Warda Watch Group News Bob Garrett who graciously headed up the Warda Watch Group is retiring and in need of someone to take over this important group, serving approximately 100 area family members. Frank Dawson is assisting in the transition. If you are interested in being a part of this please call (405) 388-9511 to find out how you can be a part of this group and help lead it to the next level. With crime increasing and our area growing every day, the Watch Group is an important asset to our community.
Family Fun Nights
Camp Lone Star in La-Grange is hosting their Family Fun Nights. Dates are October 14, November 11, and December 11. The October Fun Night will include food, pumpkin carving, and a movie. The event is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at 2016 Camp Lone Star Rd. Visit their website to register at www.camplonestar.org. FLHS Octoberfest
Tickets are now available for the Faith Lutheran High School Octoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 25. Meal tickets are $15 each and include schnitzel, noodles, green beans, potato salad, kraut, bread, and coffee cake. Serving will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds, dine in or carry out is available. Tickets are pre-sale only. Contact a student, staff member, or church office for tickets.
The Battle of the Vines and The Battle of the Brew, homebrew competition are back, so start planning your brews. The traditional German meal, domino tournament, auction, cornhole tournament, live music, kids games, fellowship and lots of fun are in store for attendees. They will also have Sapientia Infiniti (infinite wisdom), a competition of an infinity bottle of whiskey. You can start preparing your bottle by adding a pour of any size from any whiskey you enjoy, keep no record, the infinity bottle is intended to be unique to you and unrepeatable.
Knox Scholarship Fund
The Amanda Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund will have a fried chicken dinner on Sunday, Oct. 5. The meal will consist of three pieces of fried chicken, noodles, green beans, and coleslaw. Tickets are $15 each, presale only. Plates can be picked up at the Holy Cross picnic grounds from 10 a.m.noon. Only 250 tickets will be sold. Contact cyndy.zoch@gmail.com for tickets. Couples Club at Holy Cross
The Couples Club at Holy Cross is matching funds, up to $5,000, to be used for the renovation of the picnic hall. The hall is used for many area functions, reunions, and fundraiser events. If you would like to contribute you can bring a check by the church office.
Show Fund BBQ Dinner
The Winchester Show Fund will have a drive-thru BBQ dinner on Sunday, Oct. 19. Plates are $15 and include Barbecue pork, tortillas, beans, and coleslaw Pick up is from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Park in Winchester Pre-sale only for tickets, available from any Winchester 4-H member or at St. Michael’s church office.
Seasons Supper Club Event
Award winning singersongwriter and chef, Season Ammons, will be hosting a Seasons Supper Club Event of fine dining on their family ranch, Peaceful Waters Ranch, off Warda Church Road. Guests will enjoy a four-course meal, pared with local wine and a full live band concert on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 6-10 p.m. Luxury overnight accommodations are also available. Sewing Circle
The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. (this is around the back side of the church.) No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Contact the church office at (979) 2423333 for questions.
Game Day at Holy Cross The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday Oct. 16 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of Bingo and Dominoes are offered.
Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Holy Cross Youth Group The Youth Group will meet on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 11:15 a.m. All youth, ages 5th grade through high school, are invited to join.
GEMS to Hold Meeting The GEMS (Girl’s Embracing Mission Service) monthly event is Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross. This is for girl’s 5th-12th grade. They will be packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Their goal is to pack 40 boxes. Donations for supplies, as well as Amazon gift cards are appreciated and will help towards the cost of supplies. If you would like to contribute please drop off your donation at the church office.
Fall Rally
The LWML Post Oak Zone Fall Rally is Sunday Oct. 5 at 1:30 at St. John Lutheran in Lincoln.
