Fayetteville-Native Hired as New Weimar Police Chief

Dave Socha

Fayetteville-native Dave Socha has been hired as the new police chief in Weimar.

Socha, 55, was born and raised in Fayetteville where he graduated from Fayetteville High School before earning his associate degree from Blinn Junior College in Brenham. He went on to join the Austin Police Department in July 1992 and proudly retired in January 2023 after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Throughout his distinguished career with APD, Chief Socha served in and supervised a wide range of specialized units, gaining extensive experience in both field operations and leadership roles.

In addition to his law enforcement experience, Chief Socha has completed extensive training in budgeting, management, and leadership development, further strengthening his ability to guide teams and serve his community effectively.

When the opportunity arose to return closer to his hometown and serve the citizens of Weimar, he knew it was the right fit.

“I’m honored to work in a community that feels like home,” says Chief Socha. “I look forward to building strong relationships with our residents and working side by side to keep Weimar a safe, welcoming place for all.”
