Round Top Gears Up for 13th Annual OktoBierFest Oct. 25

The Round Top Rifle Association 13th Annual Okto-BierFest is coming up Saturday, Oct. 25. Gates open at 11 a.m., and the official keg tapping is at 12 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon filled with quality German biers, delicious kassler, schweineschnitzel, wurst, and kraut. A free concert will be held under the pavilion with music by The Round Top Brass Band, anduf Geht’s and Enzian Baum. Entry is free.
Round Top Rifle Hall Monday night hamburger socials are the first, second and third Mondays of each month. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Fall Antique Show
Marburger Farms is open one more day, through Oct. 18. Friday night make plans for the Urban Cowboy party at the Round Top Dance Hall, beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 enjoy “Lotte.99” at The Compound, Live Music with Kirk House Band at The Dugout Bar and Grill in Warrenton, and tons of great lastday shopping.
Coming up the first weekend in November is the annual Round Top Wine Fest. Saturday, Nov. 1 the day kicks off at 11 a.m. Register at the Town Square before hitting the trail! There are several stops at Henkel Square, Rolland Square, the Stone Cellar, Round Top Village, The Halles, Market Hill, and Junk Gypsy. Shuttle services, provided by ATX Lux Rides, are included with your ticket.
Speaking of, your $65 ticket includes a signature wine glass, an “Explore Round Top” goody bag, a map with listings of all the stops on the Wine Trail, one raffle ticket, and a wristband that serves as your ticket to participate in the Wine Tastings and shuttle services.
Sunday morning, Nov. 2, enjoy brunch at several participating restaurants including Boon & Company, Duo Modern @ Market Hill, Lulu’s, Mandito’s, Mill Street Café, Prost on Block 29, Round Top Brewing & Kitchen, Round Top Coffee Shop, Royers Round Top Café, and The Garden Company in Round Top.

Round Top-Carmine ISD Save the date for the annual Fall Festival on Oct. 18. Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 2731. An early release is set for Friday, Oct. 31.
RTC High School is collecting pictures of local veterans for their Wall of Honor, which will be on display for Veterans Day. Email pictures to bvenghaus@rtcisd.net or bring them to Mrs. Venghaus to be scanned and returned.

Round Top Film Festival The second-annual Round Top Film Festival opens Thursday, Nov. 6. This event runs through Sunday, Nov. 9 and showcases a lineup of full-length features, documentaries, shorts, and more. Visit roundtopfilmfest.org.

December brings back Sounds of the Season, featuring the Blinn College Wind Symphony and Choirs. The Nutcracker Ballet is back Saturday, Dec. 13 – get your tickets now before they sell out – because they will. More information and links to purchase tickets can be found at festivalhill.org. Round Top Family Library The Round Top Family Library offers several free events for all ages throughout the week. Yoga, homeschool classes, story time, STEM, Mah Jongg, Chess, and Taekwondo, are just a few of the selections. Coming up Saturday, Oct. 25 is an Acoustic Jam Session. Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bethlehem Lutheran Church meets for worship Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Enjoy a Gospel Music Festival Sunday, Oct. 26 from 2-6 p.m. Bring your chairs and picnic dinners to enjoy a great fall afternoon listening to Gospel music. Homemade ice cream will be served during the break.
The BLC Ruth Circle met on Oct. 2. Those attending were LaVerne Albers, Joys Baird, Sherry Pennington, Kathy Schatte, Jeanette Schoenst, Sedalia Ullrich, Pearlie Wagner, and Julie Wantland. Kathy Schatte served as the hostess for October.
Joys Baird lead a bible study about Stewardship. The ladies were reminded that stewardship is defined as “the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care.” The Bible teaches us in Luke 12:48b that “…From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required, and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded…” God blesses us with these gifts: ourselves, our time, our talents, and our possessions. We should carefully, responsibly, and generously use these blessings to help others.
St. Paul Lutheran Church St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby services are at 8 a.m. Fellowship, coffee, and Sunday School follow at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday at 2 p.m. Quilting is held the third Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
Reformation Sunday is Oct. 26 at Lutherhill. No service in Shelby that weekend.
St. John’s Lutheran Church St. John’s is part of the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. They meet for Sunday Worship at 8:30 a.m.
RT Christian Fellowship Round Top Church meets at 8:45 a.m. for Bible Study, followed by a 10 a.m. service.
St. Cecilia’s Episcopal Church Services are held Sunday mornings at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square.
Enjoy a special Tribute Service celebrating the 75th birthday of Tom Petty on Sunday, Oc.t 19 at 10:30 a.m. The service features an All-Star Group of musicians from Texas, New Orleans, and England including Crispin Schroeder, Ben Jones, Joey McGee, Stephen Mansolo, Ezra Schroeder, Bobby McDonald, and Rob Kazenel, and a sermon from priest and author William B “Father Bill” Miller titled “I Won’t Back Down!” The public is invited.
