A Washington County grand jury indicted 53-year-old Shawn Patrick Childers of La Grange for the aggravated robbery of the Burton State Bank two years ago.

Quenten R. Gonzalez was officially sworn in last week as the newest member of the La Grange city council.

Law enforcement and nervous business owners descended on the courthouse square on Sunday after two local 15 yearolds created a post on social media trying to start a “riot” in downtown La Grange Sunday night.

The 84th Annual Ellinger Tomato Festival, that was scheduled for May 29-31, 2020 has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. The annual event that normally includes a BBQ cookoff, dance, parade, fried chicken meal, auction and raffle serves as one of the largest fundraisers the organization counts on to support the maintenance and operations of the 1935 community center hall. The Knights of Columbus regularly scheduled barbecue to go for Father’s Day has been cancelled.

The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County held a parking lot worship service on Sunday, May 24 at St. John Lutheran Church in Warrenton at 10 a.m. The parking lot worship was deemed a success with worship leaders, ushers, parking attendants, tech support, thirty-two cars of worshipers, five cars of visitors and two dogs in attendance.
