The number of people who tested positive for the coronoavirus in Fayette County has risen to 156 since officials began tracking the virus back in March. As of July 10, four people have died, and that number that has not changed in over a week; 84 people have recovered.

La Grange Volunteer Fire Department put out a toxic fire near Cozy Corner Tuesday night, July 7. “Over the past three years, we go out there probably once or twice a year, but the fires have never been the magnitude it was that night,” Menefee said.

A Plantersville man took a trip to jail after wrecking his car and nearly crashing into a house in Schulenburg Saturday night, July 4. According to a report from Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek, 25-year-old Dalton Slatter of Plantersville was driving south on FM 2672 in a 2019 Acura MDX.

In June, Blinn announced its Back With Blinn plan, which outlines the College’s strategies for the return of employees and students to our campuses. Before returning to campus, employees and students must self-certify that they are not exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, have not tested positive and have not come into contact with anyone with symptoms. Additionally, all employees must continue to self-certify weekly before returning to campus.

Local hog hunter, Chris Joplin, reported harvesting a total of 60 hogs for the month of June. Chris has been working hard to bring down the numbers of hogs in the area since he moved out to Muldoon. There have also been some hogs removed from the population by vehicles. Black hogs on the road are hard to see and cause lots of damage. Be careful when out and about.
