The Ector County Republican Party voted Saturday to censure Gov. Greg Abbott, accusing him of overstepping his authority in responding to the coronavirus pandemic, while state Sen. Charles Perry, R-Lubbock, called for a special session so lawmakers could have a say in how Texas proceeds amid soaring caseloads.

New Ulm Enterprise• Industry’s Produce Distribution is no more. Formerly occurring on the last Monday of every month, Houston Food Bank (HFB) has decided to end produce distribution in the west end of Austin County. HFB has designed a new model for food distribution for rural area such as Industry, New Ulm, etc. Partner Services is an umbrella program offering many innovative and creative programs to serve communities. However, Partner Services, from which Industry and area communities could benefit from is not free. “The 501(c)3 requirement is easy, but we must also have means to store food, which we don’t have. Also, there’s an annual Partner Services fee of $2,500,” said Industry’s coordinator Fred Zimmerman. Zimmerman has suggested residents of Industry can drive to Sealy Food Bank or go to the West End Christian Community Outreach which distributes dry goods on the third Friday of every month at Industry First United Methodist Church starting at 9 a.m.
