During the months of December and January, the Appraisal District experiences an increase in person to person contact with people coming in to pay property taxes. In an effort to remain open to the public during the ongoing pandemic, the Fayette County Appraisal District is highly recommending taxpayers to please use the drop box, mail, or make your property tax payments online. If you use the drop box or mail and would like a tax receipt, please specifically make that request and one will be mailed to you.

At the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Thanksgiving Mass held on Thursday, Nov. 19, the St. Rose school family donated 13 complete Thanksgiving meal baskets to the Family Crisis Center, 287 lbs. of canned goods, and $62 cash to the Schulenburg Area Food Pantry.

Coronavirus vaccines could be available in Fayette County as early as the end of this year, according to Fayette County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau. “Currently we have four providers in the County that are pre-approved to distribute the vaccines,” Moreau said.

On Tuesday, Dec. 1 Round Top Festival Institute will launch its annual fall 24-hour online fundraising challenge. The goal of the Giving Tuesday Campaign is to raise $18,000 to help fund the 2021 Scholarship Program.

Due to the continued rise in COVID-19 cases and out of caution to protect the health and safety of the post members, the monthly meeting for American Legion Quade-Werchan Post 338 scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 3, will not be held. The next general meeting for all Post members and the Ladies Auxiliary is planned for Jan. 7, 2021 beginning at 7:30 p.m. subject to conditions at that time.

At a meeting last Wednesday, Fayette County Commissioners approved an application to divide 55.87 acres of property just to the east of Schulenburg. According to the application, the subdividers are Schulenburg Councilman Chip Bubela, Pct.
