Arts for Rural Texas presents paintings by 20 regional artists. The exhibit, “Brushstrokes… New Visions,” opens at ARTS in Fayetteville, on Feb. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. Participating in the exhibition are artists instructed and led by Mary Quiros and Karen Vernon and include Tami Bone, Karen Bookout, Kathy Callaway, Martha Dennis, Vicki Hanly, Allyson Hoffmann, Carole Hurley, Kae Kinley, Phoenix Kooper, Andrea Mathis, Paula D. Morris, Darcia Mucha, Linda O’Neal, John Pittman, Kathy Sauer, Bernie Scott, Tracey Wegenhoft, and Ellen Wolpert.

The Carmine Cemetery Association will hold their annual meeting this Sunday, Feb. 28 at the MLLC Mission and Ministry Building, following the worship service.

Navidad Valley Community Connections (NVCC) routinely calls our members to check in on them and to inform them of what’s going on at the Center and invite them to come on in. This is where we share what’s going on in each other’s worlds and where relationships are built. So many tell me they are grateful for the call and appreciate us thinking about them. These calls are a comfort to some. During these icy storm days, folks were cooped up for a whole new reason, first COVID-19 and now an ice storm. Isolation and loneliness do begin to set in after a period of time, especially if you live alone.

Frigid Weather and Hot Soup We were lucky at the Gersch house in Winchester with only one evening without power. We did have to drag out extra blankets and wear that winter coat and boots that I bought in Kansas for an extended stay last year.

Unlike the woes some metro hospitals sustained, St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange never went without power or water during the winter storm last week.
