Carmine Cemetery Assoc. to Meet Feb. 28
The Carmine Cemetery Association will hold their annual meeting this Sunday, Feb. 28 at the MLLC Mission and Ministry Building, following the worship service. It will begin at approximately 11 a.m.
Fried Chicken Dinner
The fried chicken dinner, sponsored by the Carmine Hall, has been postponed until March 7.
Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department reminds everyone to be very safe, especially with space heaters and other forms of heat, during this unusual cold spell. Keep them away from combustible items. Hopefully you are staying warm and safe. The low last Tuesday morning was 5 degrees. Temperature did reach 33 Wednesday.

Round Top-Carmine High School Cub baseball team’s first game is on Feb. 27 in Granger.
Heritage Committee
The Heritage Committee of the Carmine Chamber of Commerce will meet March 3 at 10 a.m. in the museum. The topic of discussion will focus on superstitions, signs, and old wives’ tales of the past, some of which remain a part of our culture. All are welcome to attend.
42 Club
The 42 Club had a wonderful lunch at JW’s Steakhouse on Feb. 3 and then proceeded to play eight exciting games of 42.
The high scoring partners were Edith Flinn and Marlene Waak with a score of 1971 and making one hand of 84. Partners Jeanette Schoenst and LaVerne Albers played 3 hands of 84 with a score of 1853. Linda Mattocks and partner Carolyn Meischen had a high score of 1774. Partners Betty Porter and Carol Naegeli successfully played 3 hands of 84 and one hand of 126.
Everyone enjoyed the afternoon of mental gaming strategy.
MLLC News
Lenten service will be held in Carmine at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m. Worship with Holy Communion, observing the Second Sunday in Lent, is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Souper Bowl of Caring offerings will be accepted until March 1. The proceeds will be given to the AMEN food pantry in La Grange.

Recycling Trailer
The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans are accepted. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated. Attendants are available to help unload.
They kindly ask that you please wait to drop off items when they are open.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
