New and updated property tax information has just been compiled by the Fayette County Appraisal District and it is available now to assist taxpayers. This property tax information is current and covers a wide range of topics, such as taxpayer remedies, exemptions, and appraisals and has information for select groups, such as disabled veterans and persons age 65 or older.

Faith Lutheran High School will be hosting its Annual Good Friday Bake Sale on April 2 at the Classic Bank Parking Lot in Giddings Texas. Cookies, pies, cakes, kolaches, cinnamon rolls, homemade noodles, homemade bread plus more will be available from 8 a.m. till noon or until sold out. Bakers are needed. Donations of any type of baked goods are welcome.

April is always a busy month for the Turtle Wing Foundation as it is Autism Acceptance Month! Jack Hooper, whom the foundation was founded in memory of, was diagnosed with high functioning autism when he was six years old. Though the foundation serves all children with learning differences, not just autism, this is a special month as it is also the anniversary of Jack’s passing.

Movie Nights on the Square are coming back to La Grange. Last Monday, La Grange City Council unanimously approved a request from La Grange Main Street to close down the parking lot on the north side of the Square to show movies on three evenings this summer: Friday, June 4, Friday, June 18 and Friday, July 16.

Fayette County officials are trying to track down all of the empty five-gallon water bottles that were distributed to residents who were without water during the February winter storm. The issue came up at a commissioner court meeting last Thursday.

Over the last few months, the Round Top Sesquicentennial Committee, Town Council, and Volunteers have been enthusiastically recharged to resume planning the town’s rescheduled 150th Anniversary Celebration on May 8th of this year. This all-day event kicks off at 10:00 and promises to honor the heritage and founding of Round Top with community spirit, historical presentations, live music, local food, and family-friendly recreation. The Sesquicentennial Committee hopes that guests will be enticed to spend Mother’s Day Weekend in Round Top creating memories of community spirit and family-friendly fun.
