Once a month there is a gathering of the Bunco squad at the Senior Center in Wolters Park. They get together on the first Thursday of each month . They play Bunco from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and they have fun.

The ladies group at Holy Cross enjoyed a fun evening last week with a Bunco/tea party. Costumes were encouraged and there were lots of great hats. Food was plentiful with a tea party themed with tea cakes, small sandwiches, scones and cookies. After several rounds of Bunco, prizes were awarded.

Summer Lunch La Grange ISD will serve good nutritious meals during the summer for local children 18 years and under. Summer curbside breakfast and lunch meals may be picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m.

Two drivers suffered injuries in a crash on State Highway 71 near West Point last Friday. According to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 5:30 p.m.

An 85-year-old man from Brenham died in a three-vehicle accident on State Highway 71 west of Ellinger on Sunday. The crash happened around 7:59 p.m.

Thirty-seven of the top young musicians in the world arrived at the Round Top Festival Institute on Sunday, June 6. They will spend the next six weeks learning from masters of classical music. The Institute holds public concerts at Festival Hill each Saturday evening during the season. The first concert takes place this Saturday, June 12, at 7: 30 p.m. We will profile some of the musicians in upcoming issues of the Record throughout the Festival season. When a child enters the foster care system because their home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to help them. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). CASA volunteers are screened and highly trained and then appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interests in the child protection system. CASA volunteers are each assigned to help one child or set of siblings at a time, so they can focus on giving that child or sibling group the individualized advocacy and attention they need.CASA of Bastrop, Fayette, and Lee Counties continues to provide valuable volunteer advocacy for every child that has experienced abuse or neglect in this area. CASA volunteers provide informed recommendations to the judge and other people involved in the case.
