Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek announced that the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a grant from the NRA Foundation and Friends of NRA in the amount of $3,333. The money received from the grant will be used to fund the purchase of service ammunition to be used for enhanced firearms training for sheriff’s deputies, reserve deputies, and corrections personnel.

Wednesday the Texas General Land Office disaster recovery team celebrated the completion of two multifamily housing complexes to replace affordable rental housing damaged or destroyed in Hurricane Harvey. The GLO awarded $2,466,000 to build The Oaks at Brenham, a 10-unit affordable rental complex in Brenham, in addition to $8,766,974 to build the Marquis at Fayette, a 36-unit multifamily community.

At Thursday’s county commissioner’s meeting, recycling center director Paul Zapalac presented a formal Standard Operating Policies and Procedures for the center, which was approved by the commissioners.
