Some kids learn to say “please” and “thank you” and to wait their turn by watching others. But kids with learning and attention issues might not pick up on common social interactions simply through observation.

July is upon us and before we know it the first day of school will be upon us. To help raise awareness and encourage families to reach out for support from the foundation if their child might benefit from academic interventions or additional therapeutic support, Turtle Wing will be holding their 3rd Annual Back-to-School Cut-A-Thon. Between the dates of July 15 and Aug. 15, participating salons and barber shops will be donating $1/ cut to Turtle Wing. Additionally, they will be sharing information on Turtle Wing Foundation and collecting community donations to support Turtle Wing’s back-to-school efforts.

A woman’s trip to the hospital in La Grange turned dangerous Thursday morning when she drifted off the roadway and hit a culvert in front of St. Mark’s Medical center.

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on July 2 around 11 p.m. a report of a naked male subject walking on Old Lockhart Rd. near St. James Church Rd. was called in to dispatch office. Deputy Jared Michalec arrived in the area and located the male subject. The male subject advised he ran his vehicle into a pound but could not remember where, and that he took his clothes off because he was soaking wet. Deputies assisting Michalec searched the area and located a riding lawnmower abandoned on the side of the road but no truck in a pond.
