La Grange Police Department Busy with Several Accidents
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of June 27 through July 4.
Accident
On June 27, Mohr received a call of a vehicle that slid off into the grass in the 1700 block of E. State Highway 712 Bypass. Upon arrival the vehicle had left.
On June 28, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 2200 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for a minor accident. Officer spoke with both parties who agreed to handle the matter between them without the need of a police report.
On July 1, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to the 2200 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for a minor two-vehicle accident.
On July 1, Anderson received a call in regard to a twovehicle accident in the 1000 block of Sunset.
On July 2, Wostarek was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Madison for a traffic accident.
Assault
On June 28, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 500 block of E. Guadalupe in regard to an assault. Officer arrived on location and took information for an incident report.
Animal Complaint
On June 27, Sgt. Travis Anderson responded to the 2200 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a dog being locked inside of a vehicle with only one window barely cracked open. Officer located the vehicle and found the vehicle was running and there was an occupant sitting with the dog. The occupant stated that the dog had never been left alone. On June 30, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of a loud dog barking in the 1000 block of E. Travis. Officer arrived and was unable to locate a dog barking.
On July 2, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 600 block of S. Jefferson in regard to an animal complaint.
On July 2, Wostarek was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Jefferson in regard to an animal complaint.
Alarm
On June 27, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for an alarm. It was a false alarm and an employee was on scene.
On June 30, Mohr received a call of an alarm with glass breakage in the gift shop in the 100 block of S. Main. Officer arrived and found the building to be secure.
On July 3, Wostarek was dispatched to an alarm in the 1800 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer arrived on location and spoke with an employee who advised they used the wrong code when opening the door.
Agency Assist
On June 30, Zwahr assisted deputies with an unruly inmate at the Fayette County Jail.
Citizen Assist
On June 27, Mohr received a call of a burn barrel burning trash in the 200 block of E. Eblin. Officer arrived and issued a warning citation and had homeowner extinguish the fire.
On July 3, Meinardus received a call from the 700 block of E. Eblin where caller requested a ride to pick up her vehicle from a shop.
Disturbance
On June 29, Maxwell was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Jefferson in regard to an irate customer.
On July 3, Maxwell was dispatched to the 400 block of W. Colorado in regard to a disturbance.
Fraud
On July 2, Maxwell spoke with a caller in regard to a scam in the 900 block of Roitsch
Reckless Driving
On June 27, Zwahr responded to the 700 block of E. Pearl in regard to a reckless driver in the area. Officer found the vehicle and issued a citation.
On July 2, Zwahr received a call of a reckless driver in the 300 block of N. Jefferson. Officer located the vehicle parked at the location and a citation was issued.
On July 3, Meinardus responded to the 1300 block of N. Jefferson where caller advised a vehicle behind him was driving aggressively.
Suspicious Vehicle/ Person
On June 27, Mohr received a call of a suspicious red truck at an abandoned building in the 500 block of W. Travis. Officer upon arrival was unable to locate the vehicle.
On June 29, Maxwell was dispatched to the intersection of N. Madison and E. Camp in regard to a suspicious vehicle.
On July 1, Currington made contact with a subject selling door to door in the 100 block of N. Horton. Officer advised subject of permit needed.
On July 1, Patrolman Robin Emmons responded to the 100 block of N. Lee for a suspicious white male wearing a blue shirt and black pants that knocked on the front door. The occupants at the residence did not know the subject so they did not answer. Male left in a black vehicle.
On July 4, Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Jefferson in regard to a suspicious vehicle. Officer arrived on location and located the vehicle. A male subject stated that he parked the vehicle to send a text message to a friend.
Welfare Check
On June 28, Meinardus was dispatched to the 200 block of S. College for a welfare check. After arriving at the residence officer found the subject had been placed in a nursing home and was no longer at this residence.
On June 30, Currington was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Franklin for a subject who could not get her elderly friend to come to the door. Officer arrived and subject walked to the door and subject advised they were fine.
On July 2, Wostarek was dispatched to the 1500 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a welfare check.
On July 3, Meinardus responded to the 1000 block of N. Horton where caller reported seeing smoke in the area. Officer found the subject and found he was burning brush piles in the pasture. Officer advised him he could not burn in city limits without a permit.
On July 3, Meinadus responded to the 900 block of N. Horton for a welfare check. Officer was able to contact individual and they were fine.
Miscellaneous
On June 27, Currington was dispatched to the 500 block of Koenig to take a report of a stolen ATM card.
On June 27, Mohr received a call of a cable blocking the roadway in the 400 block of S. Washington. Officer removed the cable from the roadway.
On June 28, Maxwell was dispatched to the 2200 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to found property.

On June 29, Wostarek spoke with a subject in the 1600 block of N. Jefferson about a lost wallet.
On June 29, Patrolman Kenny Schmidt spoke with a caller about being harassed.
On June 29, Maxwell was dispatched to the 600 block of N. Jefferson in regard to an electric pole smoking.
On June 29, Wostarek spoke with a subject in the 3000 block of Cedar Creek in regard to a lost cell phone.
On June 30, Currington spoke with a subject from Mississippi in regard to a scam that he was a victim of in Georgia and Alabama. Nothing had occurred in Texas.
On July 2, Meinardus spoke with a complainant in the 900 block of N. Horton about a subject with a criminal trespass warning being on the premises.
On July 2, Meinardus was dispatched to the 900 block of N. Horton for a juvenile subject refusing to go with his father.
