Crossroads Guardians of Hope Honors Local Cancer Survivors in Fayetteville
A pink fire engine landed at the Spoiled Quilter last Friday but it’s all good. The fire engine, christened “Debbie,” is owned by Jay and Amber Young who head up the nonprofit Crossroads Guardians of Hope. Friday’s visit was a special surprise to honor cancer survivors Kathy Mabry, Spoiled Quilter owner, and Lee Kate Janish.
Anyone battling cancer or surviving the disease gets to sign the “rolling memorial” driven by Young who comes suited up in a pink firefighter uniform. He is the brother of Glenda Graham who, along with her husband Billy, own Graham Sewing Machine Service.
Lots of Fayettevlle residents joined in to cheer on Kathy and Lee and bought t-shirts to support the cause. Crossroads Guardians of Hope supports cancer patients in so many ways. For more information on the nonprofit, go to https://www.crossroadsguardiansofhope.com.
St. John the Baptist VBS
The annual week-long July Vacation Bible School sponsored by St. John the Baptist Catholic Church last Friday was a huge success, with 66 children participating. The church wishes to thank all who donated to this year’s service project benefitting the AMEN Food Pantry. The Knights of Columbus Fayetteville/Ellinger Council held a Hot Dog and Ice Cream Social at the end of the fun-packed week.
ARTS Receives Grant
ARTS was recently awarded a $21,000 grant from Texas Women for the Arts (TWA) for its major contribution to education and the revitalization of rural Texas. Funds will be used to support the expansion of free art programs provided to youth in Fayette County and the region. This will facilitate expansion of the variety and number of programs offered.
