After a break last year due to the pandemic, the Schulenburg Festival is back on, and everyone is invited. The annual event, also known as “The National Party of Texas”, will be held on August 5th through the 8th, with most events taking place in Wolters Park in Schulenburg.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Saturday, July 24 around 1 a.m. Deputy Seth Nagel conducted a traffic stop on State Hwy. 71 westbound near FM 955 on a 2013 Kia for a traffic violation. As Nagel approached the male driver the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and the driver admitted to marijuana being in a travel bag. Nagel located two large bags of marijuana, three smaller packages of marijuana, blunts, and a grinder that contained multiple buds. 24-year-old Christopher Anthony Joseph of Baytown was arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with felony possession of marijuana.
