Locals Celebrate Zuhn Getting Drafted in 3rd Round by Raiders

There were lots of folks in La Grange celebrating when the Las Vegas Raiders selected Texas A&M’s Trey Zuhn III in the third round with the No. 91 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft this weekend. Zuhn has a ton of family here in Fayette County, including grandmother Judy (Koopmann) Zuhn, several other members of the local Zuhn families as well as Marilyn Strmiska and Karen Koopmann. Earlier this year, Zuhn (who played his high school ball in Colorado) won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the SEC’s top offensive lineman.

Ulrich, Jobb Combine to No-Hit Smithville

Amazingly with all the rain earlier this week the La Grange baseball team was still able to get its district game against Smithville in, thanks to a move to the all-turf field in Bastrop … and the Leps performance was worth the work to get the game played.

RTC Girls Make History, Heading to State Golf as a Team for First Time Ever

The past two seasons the Round Top-Carmine girls golf team missed making it to state by the smallest of margins – by just four strokes two years ago and five strikes last year. This year’s team was determined to change that trend, and they did so by shooting a two-day team score of 833 earlier this month in Manor to claim the regional runner-up title and the school’s first ever girls golf team state tourney berth.
