Leps Slam Smithville to Clinch Playoff Berth

The La Grange baseball team officially clinched a playoff berth Friday with a 17-6 victory at Smithville.

The Leps (13-10) cranked out 15 hits with Tristin Ulrich and Eli Gillum leading the way with three hits each.

Dalton Janacek and Travis Hill each had two hits.

Colt Jobb pitched five innings of relief, allowing just five hits and two unearned runs. Gillum pitched a scoreless seventh for La Grange.

The Leps now advance to the bi-district round of the 4A playoffs. Officially they are tied with Giddings for the top seed in the 4A small school playoffs.

La Grange and Giddings will play one another Monday, April 27 at 6 p.m. in Smithville to determine the seeding.
